Localism (SWO Housing and Planning Module)

Add to favourites
What is localism and how will it impact on housing and planning? What are drivers behind it and what evidence is needed to support it?

The Localism Bill was introduced to Parliament on 13 December 2010, and given Royal Assent on 15 November 2011. Localism aims to shift power from central government back into the hands of individuals, communities and councils.

This section of the site explores localism, localism in action and what it all means for housing and planning. It focuses on the five key measures that underpin the government's approach to decentralisation including Community Rights, Neighbourhood Planning, Housing, General Power of Competence, Empowering Cities and other local areas.

Whilst we will aim to provide timely updates for the latest information on decentralisation and localism always refer to the Department for Communities and Local Government website.
